Blake Barker, who led Columbus North to a share of the Conference Indiana title, and Lane Lauderbaugh, who led South Decatur to the Mid-Hoosier Conference crown, have been named to this year’s Indiana Basketball Coaches Association Academic All-State boys basketball team.
Three other North seniors — Reese Harmon, Jakub Trusina and Max Wilson — are boys honorable mention selections. Edinburgh’s Noah Detling and Isaac Roberts and Trinity Luthearn’s Tyler Goecker and Jack Marksberry also made honorable mention.
Meanwhile, all four seniors on the North girls basketball team — Emily Herndon, Alexa McKinley, Kanon Matsuno and Madison White — made the girls honorable mention list. They are joined by Hauser’s Marnie Schwartzkopf and Aunaka Wasil and Jennings County’s Addyson Kent and Brooke Mowery.
To be considered for Academic All-State, seniors must have at least at 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale and rank in the top 25 percent of their class. Because of some students not being able to take the ACT or SAT test because of COVID and some colleges not requiring those test scores, the IBCA waived its previous requirement for minimum scores.
Teams make Honors Court
The Columbus North girls and Jennings County boys teams have been named to the Hoosier Basketball Coaches Association Honors Court.
To be recognized for the Honors Court, teams must have a combined GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
Panther named All-HHC
Jennings County sophomore Keegan Manowitz has been selected to the All-Hoosier Hills Conference boys basketball team.
Columbus East senior Tyler Boyer is an honorable mention selection. Jennings juniors Carson McNulty and Jacob Vogel also made honorable mention.
