First responders at scene of accident at U.S. 31 and 650N

9 a.m. update:

First responders are now opening one lane of southbound U.S. 31 at 650N. Motorists are asked to use caution, first responders are still on scene.

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Multiple police agencies and ambulances are at the scene of an accident with injuries at U.S. 31 and County Road 650N. The southbound lanes of U.S. 31 are shut down at the intersection and Lifeline helicopter has been called to the scene.

Police are asking motorists to avoid this area if possible. Sheriff Matt Myers said U.S. 31 will be closed at the intersection for an extended time.
