Woman accused of spitting on officer

Staff Reports

A local woman was taken into custody early Tuesday morning after she was accused of spitting on a Columbus Police Department officer who arrested her for having multiple Bartholomew County warrants.

Shortly after 1 a.m., CPD officers responded to a residence in the 1200 block of Eighth Street where they located Heather D. Combs, 36, of 1225 Eighth St., who had four local warrants for her arrest, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

Combs was detained and then accused of spitting on a CPD officer who was escorting her to his patrol vehicle, Harris said. Combs was transported to the Bartholomew County Jail on the warrants and a preliminary charge of battery by bodily waste on a public safety officer.

Combs’ bond was set at $15,500 and she has since been released from the Bartholomew County Jail, jail officials said.
