CHALMERS
William J. Gentry, 58, of Chalmers passed away Sunday, March 28, 2021.
He was born August 29, 1962 in Muncie, IN, the son of Gerald and Joan (Nicholson) Gentry. He was a 1980 graduate of Naperville North High School.
William obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Ag Economics from Purdue University. He worked as a Commodity broker and was a Partner at Risk Management Commodities in Lafayette.
On October 1, 1988 he married Holly Green in Columbus, IN and she survives.
William proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1981-1985. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Otterbein where he led the Rosary and was the CCD teacher for 20 years. He was also a member of the Wildcat Valley Rifle and Pistol Club.
Along with his wife, Holly, he is survived by his children: William D. “W.D.” Gentry of Chalmers and Rebecca “Becky” Gentry of Lafayette; parents Gerald and Joan Gentry; sister Angela Brockman (husband, Mark) of Dayton, OH; nieces and nephews: Joshua, Matthew and Nicholas Brockman and Victoria and AJ Green.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents and several aunts and uncles.
Memorial Visitation will be held from 5 p.m.- 8 p.m. Monday, April 5, 2021 at Hippensteel Funeral Home. Visitation will also be held from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Tuesday March 6, 2021 at St. Charles Catholic Church in Otterbein, IN. Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11 a.m. with Reverend Father Richard Weisenberger officiating.
