CPD arrests local man wanted on warrant

Brantley

COLUMBUS, Ind. — A local man who was wanted on a Bartholomew County warrant was arrested Monday afternoon after he was observed by a Columbus Police Department officer.

At approximately 5:40 p.m., CPD officers spotted Jerome S. Brantley, 43, of Columbus while patrolling in the area of 12th Street and Cottage Avenue, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman. Officers confirmed the local warrant for Brantley’s arrest and he was taken into custody without incident.

A short time later, the officers observed three small bags containing a white substance inside a vehicle that Brantley was previously standing next to. Brantley reportedly told the officers the bags belonged to him and contained methamphetamine, Harris said.

Brantley was transported to the Bartholomew County Jail on the warrant and a preliminary charge of possession of methamphetamine, jail officials said.
