North routs Whiteland

Maddi Rutan went 3 for 4 with a double, two home runs and five RBIs Monday to lead Columbus North to a 13-6 win against Whiteland.

Lucy Norman went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs, and Josie Lemmons and Kelsey Lovelace each went 2 for 4 with a double for the Bull Dogs (4-1). Meghan Waggoner added two RBIs.

Rachel Cowan picked up the victory. Waggoner, Cowan and Peri Foust combined on a six-htter.

Jets rally past Lancers

HOPE — Edinburgh led 4-1 after three innings, but Class A No. 7 Hauser scored nine in the third and six in the fourth and went on to post a 16-5, five-inning Mid-Hoosier Conference victory.

Reagan Johnson went 2 for 2 with a double and two RBIs for the Jets (5-1, 2-0). Paige McDaniel went 2 for 3 with three RBIs and threw a nine-hitter.

Carly Cowan went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs, and MacKenzie Bieker went 2 for 3 with two RBIs for the Lancers (2-4, 0-2). Kyah Streeval and Gracie Crawhorn each went 2 for 3.

Crusaders win opener

Kinidy Morgan went 4 for 5 with a triple and six RBIs, and Emily Stair threw a one-hit shutout to lead Columbus Christian to a season-opening 26-0, five-inning win against Rock Creek Academy.

Hannah Stair added a double and two RBIs for the Crusaders.

Panthers down Cubs

MADISON — Jennings County trailed 2-1 after two innings, but scored six in the third and went on to post a 13-5 Hoosier Hills Conference win at Madison.

Lexi Doup went 2 for 5 with a home run and three RBIs for the Panthers (3-5). Tori Lee went 2 for 4 with a triple and two RBIs, Grace George went 2 for 4 with two RBIs and pitcher Shelby Wilson added two RBIs.

BOYS GOLF

East stops Shelbyville

SHELBYVILLE — Kody Reynolds and Cole Schaefer each shot 42 to tie for medalist honors and lead Columbus East to a 176-183 win at Shelbyville.

Spencer Erfmeier and Pierce Arnholt each shot 46 for the Olympians. J.T. Kuhlman carded a 49, Casey Bartholomew added a 51, Logan Stevenson had a 61 and J.R. Hughes and Mason Whipker each shot 67.

Artesians top Eagles

NASHVILLE — Cooper VanNess won co-medalist honors with a 46, but Brown County fell to Martinsville 195-234 at Salt Creek.

Bradley Arndt carded a 60 for the Eagles. Jordan Burnett added a 63, Clay Austin shot 65 and Dylan Taylor had a 72.

BASEBALL

Jets edge Cougars

HOPE — Levi Gollmer smacked a one-out, two-run walkoff homer in the bottom of the seventh to lift Hauser to its first win of the season, a 4-3 victory against Trinity Lutheran.

Aaron Rork and Kobe Meahl also homered for the Jets (1-2). Meahl went 2 for 2, and Gollmer went 2 for 4.

Eli Miller pitched the final two innings to pick up the win. Alex Pattingill, Rork and Miller combined on a four-hitter.

Tyler Goecker went the distance for the Cougars (4-2), striking out nine.

GIRLS TENNIS

Panthers blank Cubs

MADISON — Jennings County won all five matches in straight sets in a 5-0 win at Madison.

Reagan Brown beat Kourtney Neukam 6-4, 7-5 at No. 1 singles, Tatum Brown downed Erin Burkhardt 6-4, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and Carmen Kopitzke blanked Riley Poling 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles for the Panthers (3-1).

Jennings’ Liz Ertel and Sydney Carson topped Taylor Harsin and Paige Sentney 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles. Hannah Green and Cassidy Mull beat Claire Slygh and Hailey Jenkins 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.

Eagles fall to Panthers

NASHVILLE — Brown County opened its season with a 4-1 loss against Bloomington South.

Anna Stogsdill had the win for the Eagles, a 6-4, 3-6, (10-8) triumph against Riley Walker at No. 2 singles.

Brown County’s Anna Tipton fell to Briah O’Neal 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, and Londyn Koester lost to Maddie Santner 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (6) at No. 3 singles. Mattie Satter and Abi Bowman fell to Ava Rupp and Naiah Sarraf 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1 doubles, and Katie Tipton and Julia Burt lost to Caitlin Heim and Chelsie Lindauer 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.
