Bull Dogs blank Floyd

No. 3 Columbus North won four matches in straight sets in a 5-0 win against No. 26 Floyd Central.

Ashlie Wilson beat Amelia Menunier 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, Kathryn Wilson downed Libby Banet 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and Arya Gotoh topped Lauren Fancher 6-3, 6-0 at No. 3 singles for the Bull Dogs (3-0).

North’s Jaline Tay and Tiffany Fu beat Ivy Hasenour and Ella Leitner 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles. Leah George and Sydney Cooper topped Kaitlyn Jones and Abby Slaughter 6-3, 5-7, (10-5) at No. 2 doubles.

East falls to Shelbyville

SHELBYVILLE — Columbus East got a win at No. 1 singles, but Shelbyville took the other four matches to claim a 4-1 victory.

Ayano Nomura beat Gabbie Knox 6-4, 6-3 at No. 1 singles for the Olympians (1-3). Cathrine Millwood fell to Jaidyn Tackett 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 singles, and Katie Hong lost to Gracie Coomes 7-6 (5), 6-1 at No. 3 singles.

East’s Cassidy Schnur and Shruthika Kumar fell to Emma Sandman and Renee Aldridge 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles. Monica Burton and Katey Rieckers lost to Karlie Lawson and Riley Lee 7-5, 6-7 (2), 6-3 at No. 2 doubles.

Lancers no-hit Crusaders

EDINBURGH — Gracie Crawhorn threw a five-inning no-hitter and went 2 for 2 with a double and two RBIs to lead Edinburgh to an 11-0 win against Columbus Christian.

Mackenzie Whetstine went 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs, and Kyah Streeval went 2 for 3 with a double for the Lancers (3-4). Catey Streeval clubbed a grand slam.

The Crusaders (1-1) trailed only 4-0 after three innings, but committed five errors in Edinburgh’s seven-run fourth.

Chargers run-rule Eagles

NASHVILLE — North Putnam scored 11 times in the first inning and went on to hand Brown County a 19-3 Western Indiana Conference defeat.

Savannah Oden went 3 for 3 with a double for the Eagles (0-4, 0-1). Ally Hash went 2 for 3 with a double.

Tigers top Cougars

GREENSBURG — South Decatur was within 3-2 after four innings, but Triton Central pulled away for an 11-2 victory.

Erynn Dyer went 2 for 4 with a double, and Loryn Pate went 2 for 4 for the Cougars (1-2).

Saints run past Jets

INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis Lutheran swept a dual meet from Hauser, taking the boys contest 85-37 and the girls meet 68-48.

Aleck Lopez won the long jump (19 feet, 10 inches) and 400 meters (54.33 seconds), and Colin Kistler took the 1,600 (5:11.49) and 3,200 (11:41.03) to lead the Jet boys.

Winners for the Hauser girls were Ashley Chambers in the high jump (4-4), Carly Beeker in the long jump (13-2) and Marnie Schwartzkopf in the 800 (2:59.71).

Panther boys second

GREENSBURG — Jennings County’s boys finished second in a tri meet at Greensburg. East Central won with 74.5 points to 67.5 for the Panthers and 30 for Greensburg.

Gavin Hendrix won the 1,600 (4:45.1), Lane Elsner took the 400 (53.5) and Brendan Baker captured the 3,200 (10:39.3) to lead the Panther boys. Jennings also won the 4×800 relay (8:40.3.)

East Central won the girls meet with 92 points to 52 for Greensburg and 23 for the Panthers. Sarah Poole won the 3,200 (13:04.5).

BASEBALL

Trinity no-hits Senators

SEYMOUR — Jack Marksberry threw a five-inning no-hitter and had two hits, including a double, to lead Trinity Lutheran to a 14-0 win against West Washington.

Nathan Voelker had three hits for the Cougars (5-2). Peyton Pollert and Evan Hunt each had two hits.
