Kyler McIntosh // Columbus North senior baseball player
McIntosh went 2 for 3 with two RBIs in a 12-10 win at East Central, went 1 for 3 in a 6-1 win at Bloomington North, threw a two-hitter and went 2 for 2 with two RBIs in a 7-0 win at Brebeuf Jesuit and went 3 for 5 with a double, a triple and six RBIs in a doubleheader sweep of Gull Lake (Michigan).
His performance last week: “I feel good as a player right now, and definitely last week went well. It lived up to what I wanted to do and my expectations. Our whole team played well.”
Do you do anything special to prepare? “I’m more superstitious inside of a game. All I do before is, I have to have my energy drink, and I hit at the my brother’s hitting facility.”
Favorite drink: “My energy drink, Ghost Tropical Mango”
Favorite food: “Cheeseburgers”
Favorite class: “I really enjoy math class.”
Favorite sports team: “New York Yankees”
Favorite athlete: “Derek Jeter”
Role model: “My brother (assistant coach Hunter McIntosh). He’s always there for me and holds me accountable and helps me get through everything as a player and outside of baseball.”
Best advice: “Don’t really care what people think, like haters or doubters. Just feed your energy to make you do better instead of let in bring you down.”
Athletics goal: “In high school, it’s to try and beat the batting average record and strikeout records. My long term goal is to get drafted and become a Major League Baseball player.”
If you could travel anywhere: “Texas for a week and have a little hunting and fishing trip is definitely my dream.”

Kenzie Foster // Columbus East sophomore softball player
Foster went 2 for 4 with a double, a triple and an RBI in an 8-2 loss to Brownstown Central; went 2 for 3 in a 17-7 loss at Floyd Central and went 3 for 3 with two doubles and an RBI in Saturday’s 11-6 loss to Greensburg.
Her performance last week: “Being leadoff, I push myself to get on base every at bat, especially my first one, because if I think if I do that, it will help set the tone for the rest of the team.”
Do you do anything special to prepare? “I decided to go online for the rest of the year, so after I finish my schoolwork in the morning, I go to the hitting facility and take a couple rounds off the machine. Then once I get to the field, I just make sure I’m streched out and ready to go.”
Favorite drink: “Root beer”
Favorite food: “Mexican”
Favorite class: “Photography and Spanish”
Favorite sports team: “Alabama and Kentucky softball”
Favorite athlete: “(Former Kentucky softball player) Katie Reed”
Role model: “My parents (Jeremy and Kylie Foster) and my older sister (Mady Foster). They’ve inspired me to want to play.”
Best advice: “If you want to improve, you need to start being comfortable with being uncomfortable.”
Athletics goal: “I want to achieve individual goals at East, but also, I want to achieve goals that my team has set, and in the future, I want to do D-I for softball and for academics, as well.”
If you could travel anywhere: “Probably The Maldives. I’ve been looking at pictures for the longest time, and I think it’s one of the most beautiful places ever.”
