COLUMBUS, Ind. — A local woman was arrested on a charge of dealing methamphetamine after her vehicle was stopped by Columbus police officers early Monday morning.
Shortly after 2 a.m., CPD officers stopped a vehicle driven by Christy N. Walker, 38, of Columbus after witnessing a traffic violation, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.
While speaking with Walker, officers observed that she was visibly nervous. A police service dog was requested to respond to the scene and arrived a short time later. The police canine alerted to the odor of narcotics inside Walker’s vehicle, Harris said.
Officers searched Walker’s vehicle and located methamphetamine as well as a two plastic bags containing a number of smaller plastic baggies that are consistent with the packaging of narcotics, Harris said. Walker was transported to the Bartholomew County Jail on preliminary charges of dealing in methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
