11-year-old donates more than $3,500 to Turning Point

Staff Reports

Will Corn, 11, Greenwood, recently chose to help Turning Point Domestic Violence Services as part of his black belt service project.

Corn had been planning his project for over a year while working hard to earn his black belt in Taekwondo at Pilsung ATA Martial Arts in Greenwood.

Corn’s mother, April, helped him search through organizations and their causes to find a suitable one for his project. After choosing Turning Point, Will began saving his Tooth Fairy, Easter egg, and allowance money to spend on items from the shelter’s needs list.

Corn was able to fill every need on the list, made 12 boy and 12 girl gift baskets containing toiletries, toys and more, and still had money left over to make a check donation of more than $2,000.

Turning Point serves Bartholomew, Brown, Jackson, Johnson and Shelby counties.
