After two years of playing in Class 6A because of the IHSAA’s Tournament Success Factor, Columbus East football is moving back to 5A.

The Olympians will have a chance to renew an old rivalry with New Palestine after the teams were placed in 5A Sectional 14, along with Franklin and Whiteland. East and New Palestine split two 4A semistate games in 2013-14 and split two 5A sectional games in 2015-16.
