North clinches title share

TERRE HAUTE — Fourth-ranked Columbus North clinched at least a share of the Conference Indiana title with a 4-1 win at Terre Haute North.

With Bull Dogs coach Kendal Hammel resting No. 1 singles player Ashlie Wilson and No. 1 doubles player Jaline Tay, Kathryn Wilson moved up to No. 1 singles and blanked Averie Shore 6-0, 6-0. Siri Poludasu beat Yewon Jung 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 singles.

Also for Columbus North (12-0, 4-0), Tiffany Fu and Leah George downed Maylee Brown and Payton Ferency 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles. Sydney Cooper and Zoe Bishop topped Kenley Shoults and Krista Cotton 6-0, 6-4 at No. 2 doubles.

The Bull Dogs’ Arya Gotoh fell to Caroline Effner 7-6 (4), 7-6 (5) at No. 2 singles.

Columbus North can win the conference title outright with a win Monday at Bloomington South. That match was rescheduled after being rained out on Thursday.

Eagles fall to Knights

NASHVILLE — Northview pulled out a three-set win at No. 1 doubles to claim a 3-2 Western Indiana Conference win at Brown County.

Anna Tipton beat Malei Fisher 7-6 (5), 6-1 at No 2 single, and Anna Stogsdill defeated Cassie Coueter 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3 singles for the Eagles (6-6, 4-3).

Brown County’s Julia Williams fell to Sierra Paul 7-5, 6-0 at No. 1 singles. Londyn Koester and Katie Tipton lost to Brownlee Bessing and Layla Lee 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles, and Mattie Satter and Abi Bowman fell to Sydney Maur and Violet Keith 6-1, 7-6 (5) at No. 2 doubles.

BASEBALL

Panthers edge Bulldogs

BATESVILLE — Batesville led 2-0 after two innings, but Jennings County rallied for a 5-4 win in five innings.

Carson McNulty went 2 for 3 for the Panthers (8-5). Keegan Manowitz and McNulty combined on a five-hitter.
