A man with multiple warrants was arrested after officers made contact him early Friday morning.
At approximately 4:15 a.m., CPD officers responded to a residence in the 1100 block of Central Avenue in regards to a report of a loud noise, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.
When the officers arrived at the residence, they spoke with a man who was identified as Jacob E. Mercer, 31 of Martinsville. A short time later the officers determined that Mercer had active warrants for his arrest in Bartholomew County, Marion County, and Brown County.
After Mercer was arrested, officers conducted a search of his clothing and located a syringe containing methamphetamine, Harris said.
Mercer was remanded to the Bartholomew County Jail on the following preliminary charges:
- Bartholomew County warrant
- Brown County warrant
- Marion County warrant
- Possession of methamphetamine
- Possession of a legend drug injection device
Mercer was being held without bond at the jail, jail officials said.
