COLUMBUS, Ind. — Dozens of children age 12 to 15 were registered for COVID-19 vaccinations appointment in Columbus on Wednesday just hours after state health officials expanded eligibility for the Pfizer vaccine to that age group.
A total of 130 appointments were made for 12- to 15-year-olds between Wednesday and Saturday at Columbus Regional Health’s clinic at 1702 Keller Ave., the hospital said.
“We’re really encouraged with the response given that we’re less than eight hours in for this population’s eligibility,” said CRH spokeswoman Kelsey DeClue.
On Wednesday, U.S. health advisers endorsed use of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine in kids as young as 12, just days after the Food and Drug Administration declared that the Pfizer vaccine is safe and offers strong protection for younger teens based on testing of more than 2,000 U.S. volunteers ages 12 to 15, The Associated Press reported.
