Robert “Bobby” James Moore

COLUMBUS

Robert “Bobby” Moore, 61, of Columbus, passed from this life at 2:42 p.m. Monday, May 10, 2021 at Columbus Transitional Care and Rehabilitation.

Bobby was born March 31, 1960 in Columbus, Indiana, the son of Robert Gerald and Sally Jo Burner Moore. He lived his entire life in Columbus and attended Columbus North High School.

He was known by a few nicknames such as “Little Archie” and “Dirty Robert”. However, he will always be Bobby to his family.

Mr. Moore had many jobs in his life such as auto mechanic, as well as a part-time cook at the former Bill’s Flying Cheeseburgers. He also drove back and forth for a time picking up bedding stock for a family nursery in Columbus. He loved gardening, animals and often had a garden growing and selling peppers to local restaurants. He always had a cat, dog, fish or a hamster or two running loose. Even with his poor health the last few years, Bobby never contracted Covid. His great sense of humor was apparent almost to the end. He was an avid NASCAR fan and collected Dale Earnhardt, Sr. memorabilia. Lately, one of his favorite songs was “I Can Only Imagine”- now Bobby will no longer have to imagine.

Survivors include mother, Sally Jo (Jon) Alexander of Louisville and sister, Carole (Rob) Owings of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by father, Robert G. Moore and his long-time companion, Linda Petro.

In keeping with the family’s request, cremation will take place and there will be no public memorial service. A private graveside inurnment will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery near Scipio.
