Club Olympia takes third at Pike Spring Invitational

Club Olympia Swim Team scored a combined total of 1,958 points to finish third place behind much larger Pike and Brownsburg teams last weekend in the 2021 Pike Spring Invitational at Pike High School.

After three days of competition, 26 of Club Olympia’s 30 swimmers scored points. In total, Club Olympia had 77 top-five finishes and well over 100 personal records.

In the Open Division, Club Olympia was led by Ashley Freel and Brady Beyer. Freel placed in the top five in all nine of her events, winning the 400 freestyle, 400 individual medley and 100 freestyle. She had three PRs.

Beyer placed in the top five in six of his 10 events, winning the 400 IM, 200 IM and 100 breaststroke. Beyer also had three PRs.

Maggie Johnson placed in the top five in five of six events with a win in the 200 freestyle. Cole Ehara had five top-10 finishes, including fourth in the 400 IM. Annie Murer had five top-10 finishes in six events. Dathan Wolf and Pratt Badve combined for six top-10 finishes. Cavan Stilson also scored in the Open Division.

In the 13-14 division, Hope Westphal Westphal won all 10 events with PRs in eight. She won the 400 freestyle, 400 IM, 200 IM, 100 breaststroke, 100 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 200 breaststroke, 200 freestyle, 200 backstroke and 100 butterfly.

Misha Machavariani had top-five finishes in nine of 10 events, winning the 400 IM, 200 IM, 100 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke with eight PRs. Cassidy Furnish and Ethan Hall combined for six top-10 finishes and six PRs. Ty Mayer, swimming unattached, achieved top-20 finishes in all five events with one top 10.

The 11-12 year olds were led by Connelly Furnish, Zoie Chandelkar and Josh Pendleton. Furnish had seven top-five finishes in 10 events, taking first in the 400 freestyle, 200 IM, 50 breaststroke, 100 breaststroke and 100 freestyle.

Chandelkar had five top-five finishes with seven PRs. Pendleton took second in all six of his events with four PRs. Sanaa Kulkarni had five top-10 finishes. Advika Badve, Lovely Panda and Nandini Kondare combined for four top-10 finishes and 25 PRs.

The 10U group was paced by Tony Machavariani and Shreyan Kulkarni. Tony Machavariani had seven top-fives in eight events, winning the 200 IM, 100 butterfly and 100 freestyle. Kulkarni had four top-fives in nine events. Aashka and Vivan Shah combined for three top-fives and eight top-10s. Ivanka Chandelkar and Lily Pendleton combined for eight top-20 finishes.

Club Olympia swimmers achieved six Senior State, 22 Age Group State and 106 Divisional Championship cuts.
