Letter: Vaccines help protect our loved ones

From: Greg Dinkins

Columbus

It has been over a year now since we first became aware of COVID-19. Bartholomew County, as well as the U.S. has come a long way in stopping this horrendous virus that has accounted for millions of deaths in the world and hundreds of thousands deaths in the United States. As individuals, we all need to make it a priority to help stop COVID-19. And we can do it.

I was saddened to read that CRH was reducing their vaccine clinic hours and eventually was closing it entirely, but I do understand their decision due to lack of interest in our community for vaccines.

What saddens me the most is that there are those out there that choose NOT to get the vaccine. I just cannot fathom why people don’t want to be immune to a pandemic that has cost so many their lives. It is a small thing to do to support and protect (in this order): No. 1 our family and loved ones, No. 2 Bartholomew County, No. 3 the State of Indiana, and No. 4 the United States of America.

It takes very little time on our parts. The shot is like a flu shot or a pneumonia shot. The side effects are minimal if any at all.

We are facing difficult times with our government’s leaders fighting amongst one another. There is nothing we can do to fix this until the next election in 2022. But we CAN all come together and agree on one thing: we must get rid of this virus!

To this, no matter what your political preference, we need everyone’s support to end this pandemic. Please support our families, loved ones, Columbus and the United States. We all need to get vaccinated as soon as possible. There is no cost to you and the benefits are priceless.
