Bridge work to close lanes on U.S. 31

COLUMBUS, Ind. —  Indiana Department of Transportation contractor RAM Construction Services plans to begin deck overlay work as early as Monday on the U.S. 31 bridge over Clifty Creek in Bartholomew County.

The project is scheduled to take place in two phases, both of which will restrict traffic to one lane in each direction through mid-July, weather permitting.

  • On/after Monday, June 14: U.S. 31 southbound closed, one travel lane in each direction on northbound side
  • Late June: U.S. 31 northbound closed, one travel lane in each direction on southbound side

Motorists are reminded to slow down, use extra caution, and drive distraction-free in and near all work zones. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change. County Road 50N is expected to remain open during construction.
