State: 400 additional Hoosiers diagnosed with COVID-19

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Department of Health announced Friday that 400 additional Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 through testing at state and private laboratories. That brings to 757,062 the number of Indiana residents now known to have had the novel coronavirus following corrections to the previous day’s dashboard.

To date, 13,487Hoosiers are confirmed to have died from COVID-19, an increase of five since Thursday. Another 427 probable deaths have been reported to date based on clinical diagnoses in patients for whom no positive test is on record.

A total of 3600,537 unique individuals have been tested in Indiana. A total of 10,944,618 tests, including repeat tests for unique individuals, have been reported to the state Department of Health since Feb. 26, 2020.

Bartholomew County reported 8,189 positive cases Friday (up one) and a cumulative total of 157 deaths (no change).

Surrounding counties reported:

  • Jackson County: 5,102 positive cases (no change), 77 deaths (no change)
  • Jennings County: 2,357 positive cases (no change), 49 deaths (no change)
  • Decatur County: 2,903 positive cases (no change), 92 deaths (no change)
  • Shelby County: 5,054 positive cases (up three), 97 deaths (no change)
  • Johnson County: 18,566 positive cases (up eight), 389 deaths (no change)
  • Brown County: 1,051 positive cases (no change) 43 deaths (no change)

Hoosiers age 12 and older can receive a COVID-19 vaccine; individuals younger than age 18 are eligible for the Pfizer vaccine only. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are accepted at most sites.

As of today, a total of 5,689,832 doses have been administered in Indiana. This includes 2,831,588 first doses and 2,858,244 individuals who are fully vaccinated. The fully vaccinated number represents individuals who have received a second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines and those who received the single Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
