Columbus police officers arrested two local men Friday morning after they were accused of fleeing from law enforcement and crashing into another vehicle.
At approximately 10:35 a.m., CPD officers attempted to stop a vehicle for a minor violation near the 2200 block of Hawcreek Avenue. The driver of the vehicle refused to stop and began accelerating his vehicle, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.
A short time later, the suspect, who was later identified as Cory R. Crowe, 32, of 412 Smith St., drove left of center and crashed into an occupied vehicle on Forest Drive, Harris said. Crowe fled on foot from his damaged vehicle, Harris said. The driver of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries, Harris said.
When officers approached Crowe’s vehicle they observed Jeremy D. Morgan, 34, of 2216 Hawcreek Ave., in the front seat of the vehicle. The officers confirmed a local warrant for Morgan’s arrest and he was taken into custody, Harris said.
A short time later, officers located Crowe and he was taken into custody after a short foot chase, Harris said.
Crowe and Morgan were taken to the Bartholomew County Jail on the following preliminary charges:
Morgan: Bartholomew County warrant, being held without bond at the jail.
Crowe: Resisting law enforcement (Level 6 felony), leaving the acene of an accident (Class A misdemeanor), driving while suspended (Class A misdemeanor), reckless driving (Class A misdemeanor), Jackson County warrant, Bartholomew County warrant, being held without bond at the jail.
