Columbus firefighter retires after 21 years of service

The Columbus Fire Department recently announced the retirement of Capt. Dave Foster.

Foster joined the Columbus Fire Department in October of 1999 and retired with 21 years of service. He was promoted to lieutenant in 2012 and later promoted to captain in 2015.

During his career, Foster obtained numerous state certifications including: emergency medical technician, hazardous materials technician, rope rescue technician and swift water rescue technician. Foster is also certified as an aircraft rescue firefighter.

Foster served as a volunteer for the Columbus Firemen’s Cheer Fund throughout his career. He has also served on several department committees and was heavily involved in training other fire department members on recently implemented computer-based staffing and reporting software.
