Fire department announces three promotions

The Columbus Fire Department has promoted three firefighters to fill officer vacancies left by recent retirements.

Lt. Josh Allman has been promoted to the rank of captain. Allman is a 20-year veteran of the department and had previously been promoted to lieutenant in 2016. Allman holds a Fire Officer 1 certification through the state of Indiana. His additional certifications include Confined Space Rescue Technician, Advanced EMT, Hazardous Materials Technician, Rope Rescue Technician, Swift Water Rescue Technician, Vehicle and Machinery Rescue Technician and Fire Officer Strategies and Tactics.

Firefighter Andrew Jordan has been promoted to the rank of lieutenant. Jordan has served 14 years with the Columbus Fire Department. Jordan’s certifications include: Confined Space Rescue Technician, EMT Basic, Rope Rescue Technician, Swift Water Rescue Technician, Vehicle and Machinery Rescue Technician and Fire Officer Strategies and Tactics.

Firefighter Ben Whiteside has been promoted to the rank of lieutenant. Whiteside has served 14 years with the Columbus Fire Department. Whiteside holds a Fire Officer 1 certification through the State of Indiana. Additional certifications include: EMT Basic, Rope Rescue Technician, Vehicle and Machinery Rescue Technician and Fire Officer Strategy and Tactics.

All three officers will be given their shift and station assignments beginning next week.
