Jayne Stephanie Lawyer, of Bloomington, passed away at Brown County Health and Living Center on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at the age of 61.

Born in Columbus, Indiana on February 10, 1960, she was the daughter of Harrison and Barbara (Howard) Lawyer. Jayne studied music for several years and was a talented musician and singer. She served the Lord through her music ministry. She recorded an album of original gospel songs with her longtime singing partner and best friend Debbie Wince. She was a faithful member of the Burgoon Baptist Church for many years, where she touched the hearts of many with her singing. Jayne had a quick wit and loved a good joke. She always had pets and took in several stray animals over the years. Her family and friends are comforted by knowing she is now surrounded by God’s love.

Jayne is survived by her two sisters, Marjorie (Doug) Lawyer-Smith of Greenwood and Jennifer (Andrew) Sunnekalb of Bloomington; niece, Tess Lawyer-Smith and three nephews, Eli Lawyer-Smith, Nate (Julie) Sunnekalb and Christopher (Marissa) Sunnekalb.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Jean Lawyer; father, Harrison Lawyer; two grandfathers, Myron Howard and George Lawyer and two grandmothers, Geneva Howard and Marjorie Lawyer.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 19, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville with Rev. Harold Godsey officiating. Jayne will be laid to rest at Valhalla Memory Gardens following the service. Visitation will be Monday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
