Garry Michael Niedbalski

Garry Michael Niedbalski, 73, of Columbus, passed away July 16, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family.

Garry was born July 28, 1947 in South Bend, the son of Sylvester and Esther Jankowski Niedbalski. He married Bette Stanfield Miller on January 11, 1997.

Garry graduated from St. Joseph’s High School in South Bend, and then graduated from Tri-State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. While attending Tri-State, he was a co-op employee at Cummins Engine Company. Upon graduation, Garry became a full time employee of Cummins until 1985 when he went to work for Allison Transmission until his retirement in 1996. Being a native of South Bend, Garry was an avid Notre Dame fan. He collected sports memorabilia as well as enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing, as well as trips to Destin and Punta Gorda, Florida.

Garry is survived by his wife; a son Dr. Brian Jacob (Amy) Niedbalski of Columbus; step-sons Robert W. Miller of Columbus and Andrew W. (Victoria) Miller of Lee, Massachusetts; grandchildren Haylee and Jacob Niedbalski; step-grandchildren Lucas, Karrena, Joshua, and Jadi Miller; brothers Jeffrey (Debbie) Niedbalski, Leslie (Colleen) Niedbalski, and Bradley (Mary) Niedbalski all of South Bend; as well as aunts Elaine Dulcet, Sophia Niezgodski, Eleanor Jankowski, Kelly Niedbalski and Jean Landuit all of South Bend, as well as Madeline Jankowski of Memphis, Tennessee; as well as several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and numerous cousins.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday July 21, 2021 at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church with Father Chris Wadelton officiating. Calling will be 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass at the church Wednesday.

Memorials may be made thru the funeral home to St. Bartholomew Catholic Church Hot Meal Site or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
