Luther Wesley Houser Jr., 73, North Vernon, passed away on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at Brown County Health and Living in Nashville.

Born July 30, 1947, in Tyrone, Pennsylvania, the son of Luther Wesley Houser Sr. and Helen Short Houser. He married Kathy June Atkins on December 2, 1982, in Seymour; she preceded him in death on March 17, 2020.

Luther served in the Army from 1966-1969, during the Vietnam era, and worked cold test at Cummins Engine Company in Columbus, retiring in 2008 after 32 years, and afterward went to work as security at Valeo in Seymour for two years.

Survivors include his sons, Travis (Brandy) Houser of Columbus, Joseph L. (Shanell) Clayton of North Vernon and Todd A. Houser of Zephyr Hills, Florida; sister, Marsha Kay Houser of Florida; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; granddaughter, Josie Rana Clayton; and sister, Carol Ann Houser.

A funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, August 2, 2021, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon. Visitation will be on Monday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Bald Eagle Cemetery in Tyrone, Pennsylvania.
