“The Food Maniacs” team from Columbus recently placed sixth for the Elementary Level of the Technical Challenge category at Destination Imagination’s Global Finals.
More than 100 teams from over 20 countries were invited to the worldwide competition.
Destination Imagination is a nonprofit organization that hosts STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) challenges across the globe, in four different levels and seven categories.
Challenges are released at the beginning of the school year. Competitions are regional, state, and Global Finals.
At the time of each competition, each team is given a challenge that needs to be resolved in 5-minute duration in front of appraisers.
At Global Finals, the local team also won the High Score Fast Flex Challenge Award.
The Food Maniacs were first-place winners in Indiana’s state tournament. In addition, they took home the Renaissance Award at state.
The Food Maniacs team members include Nandini Kondhare, Shreyan Kulkarni, Vidita Keskar, Idhika Shetty and Sarthak Kambale.
Rachana Kulkarni was the team manager and Sheetal Kondhare was co-team manager.
