Columbus police officers arrested a local man with multiple warrants after a foot pursuit on Saturday afternoon.
At approximately 4:15 p.m., CPD officers observed a man take off running in the area of 15th and Chestnut streets as a CPD patrol vehicle approached him. Officers chased the man on foot and apprehended him after he attempted to enter a residence in the 1500 block of California St., said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.
The suspect was identified as Randall W. Garris, 49, who gave an address of “homeless” and officers confirmed four warrants for his arrest a short time later. Garris was transported to the Bartholomew County Jail where he was remanded on the following preliminary charges:
- Three Bartholomew County warrants
- Jackson County warrant
- Resisting law enforcement
Garris is being held with no bond in the Bartholomew County Jail, jail officials said.
