Two arrested after police pursuit

Staff Reports

Two people were arrested on drug charges after a vehicle pursuit with Columbus Police Department officers on Monday evening.

At approximately 8:35 p.m., CPD officers attempted to stop a vehicle driven by an individual believed to have a suspended license at 11th and Chestnut streets.

The vehicle, driven by Amber M. David, 36, of 1864 W. Shady Lane, refused to pull over and sped away disregarding a nearby stop sign, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

After a short pursuit, David pulled over her vehicle and officers conducted a high risk traffic taking both David, and her passenger, Chester D. Sidwell, 56, of 3306 Cessna Drive, into custody, Harris said.

While searching David’s vehicle, officers located methamphetamine, synthetic marijuana, and drug paraphernalia, Harris said. Officers also reportedly located methamphetamine that Sidwell had in his clothing.

Both were transported to the Bartholomew County Jail where they were remanded on the following preliminary charges:

David: Possession of methamphetamine, resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a substance represented to be a controlled substance, driving while suspended with a prior conviction. David was being held in jail in lieu of $75,000 bond, jail officials said.

Sidwell: Possession of methamphetamine. He was being held in jail in lieu of $125,000 bond, jail officials said.
