Columbus Regional Hospital has announced a change to its rules for visitors, which went into effect Saturday, due to increasing numbers of patients hospitalized with COVID-19.

COVID-positive or COVID rule-out patients on the “non-critical-care inpatient units” may have only one visitor per day. Visiting hours are now 4 to 6 p.m. only.

COVID-positive and COVID rule-out patients in the emergency department may have one visitor per day with travel limited to the patient’s room.

Visitors are no longer allowed for COVID-positive patients in the ICU.

“Exceptions will be allowed for end-of-life situations or other circumstances deemed therapeutic by the healthcare team,” hospital officials said.

All other visitation guidelines remain the same, and more information about these policies is available at crh.org.

In its memo about the change, CRH cited a “continued high number of COVID-positive admissions,” as well as the desire to enhance safety for patients and visitors.
