COLUMBUS, INDIANA
Charles David Hobson, 84, a resident of Columbus, Indiana, passed from this life Sunday, August 15, 2021, at his home.
Mr. Hobson was born in Columbus, Indiana, November 30, 1936, the son of Viola Hobson West. On May 4, 1956, Charles married Helen Berniece Whittington; she preceded him in death October 9, 2003.
Mr. Hobson served our country in the U.S. Air Force Reserves. He retired from the printing industry, and he had a passion for radio controlled airplanes.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his children, Rick Hobson of Columbus, Marshall Hobson of Martinsville, David Hobson of Columbus, Mary K. Brusak of Martinsville, Beverly Jackson of Charleston, South Carolina, and Benita Barton of Poughkeepsie, New York; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; half-brothers, Jim (Helen) West of Brown County and Maurice (Janet) West of Brown County; sisters-in-law, Barb Thompson of Florida and Wilma Shoop of Virginia; and a brother-in-law, Bob Whittington of Whiteland.
Mr. Hobson was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Berniece Hobson; son, Larry Hobson; mother, Viola West; step-father, Michael West; mother-in-law, Margaret Dobbs; half-brothers, Roger West and Phillip West; and sisters-in-law, Sharon West and Geneva Ward.
The graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Section 63 at Garland Brook Cemetery, 501 North Gladstone Avenue, Columbus, Indiana 47201; the Pastor Luke Maggard will officiate. There will be no visitation. Mr. Hobson will be laid to rest next to his wife following the ceremony.
