Jets rally for 5-set win vs. Batesville

HOPE — Hauser volleyball found itself in a similar position Thursday night than it was in on Monday.

On that night, the Jets rallied from a two-set deficit to force a fifth against Madison, but couldn’t close the deal.

The Jets end up finishing the job this time around to complete the comeback 18-25, 23-25, 25-20, 25-19, 15-9 against Batesville.

Hauser senior Andie Clark said the team fought extra hard, despite being shorthanded.

“We knew we had to step up,” Clark said. “I feel like just working together and being hyled up and having a whole bunch of energy helped us a lot.

Hauser coach Jeff Case was proud of the team for showing a lot of heart when things didn’t go his team’s way during the match.

“I hope they learned a lesson from Madison and kept their composure. We were able to make some plays,” Case said. “It was very similar. I thought about that, too, when we were in that situation because (Batesville) was coming back. They stayed calm and made some plays.”

In the fifth-set tiebreaker, the Jets (7-3) jumped out to a 10-3 lead, forcing a Bulldogs timeout. Batesville scored five straight points after the timeout, but Hauser eventually closed the match.

For the Jets, Kayden Miller tallied 47 assists, and Charlie Clark recorded 12 kills, two blocks and five aces. Kenze Bostic had 14 kills, two blocks, six digs and two aces. Aniston Bostic added 11 kills and four blocks, and Andie Clark notched 33 digs.

Andie Clark hopes the win can give the Jets a confidence boost going forward.

“It’s definitely going to help us in tougher games when we play Waldron. It’s going to help out a lot,” she said. “It’s a big conference game we need to win this year, and they’re in our sectional.”
