Joann Selig

Joann Selig, 85, of Scipio, passed away at 6:14 a.m. on Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at IU Health Methodist Hospital.

Born December 1, 1936, in Jennings County, she was the daughter of Cias and Lula (Mikesell) Green. She married Lloyd Henry Selig Sr. on March 30, 1954, in Columbus; he preceded her in death on September 28, 2015.

Joann had worked at the Holiday Inn in Columbus as a banquet organizer for several years and had also worked for the Ramada Inn. She was a member of Bear Creek Baptist Church and enjoyed growing fruit, especially strawberries; cooking; baking; spending time with her dog, Pixie; and going to Florida in the winter.

She is survived by her sons, James (Pat Barnard) Selig of Plant City, Florida, Jack (Yvonne) Selig and Warren (Holly) Selig, both of Scipio, Mark Selig of Columbus, and Larry Selig of Gainesville, Florida; daughter, Carolyn (Eddie) Ell of Scipio; sisters, Jewell (Mark) Tressler of Commiskey and Marilyn (Bob) Yensel of Bargersville; fourteen grandchildren, including Melissa (Shawn) Rose of Columbus who Joann raised; twenty great grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; grandson, Austin Selig; brothers, Kenneth Green and Fred Green; and sister, Dorothy Easton.

A funeral service for Joann will be held at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Monday, October 25, 2021, at Bear Creek Baptist Church. Visitation will be held from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 24, 2021, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services and on Monday at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in the Bear Creek Baptist Cemetery.

Memorials may be made through the funeral in honor of Joann to Our Hospice of Jennings County or to Good Samarian Food Pantry.
