Anita Louise Johns

Anita Louise Johns, 85, of North Vernon passed away Saturday October 23, 2021 at her residence.

Born July 17, 1936 in Bartholomew County, she was the daughter of Allen and Doneda Workman Tolliver. She married Claude E. “Ted” Johns on March 5, 1965, and he preceded her in death on October 21, 2018.

Anita was a member of Church of God.

She had previously been a cook at Ken Joy Nursing Home and had been employed in accounting for auto sales businesses.

She enjoyed crocheting, spending time with her children, grandchildren, and her church family. She also enjoyed watching Christian TV.

Anita is survived by children, Michael French of Hope, Claudette (Tony) Mee of Hope, Steve (Lynn) Johns of North Vernon, Michael (Norma) Johns of Columbus, Michelle (Bryan) Paglione of Texas, Bruce Johns of Florida, and Tony Johns of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Anita King of Texas, Joshua (Chloe Fields) Shepherd of Columbus, Caleb (Megan) Shepherd of Columbus, Ashton (Jon) Hibbs of Columbus, Jacob (Brittany Yates) Mee of Hope, Noah (Adonah Riddle) Mee of Columbus, Addison Mee of Hope, Tyler Mee of Columbus, James (Olivia) Mee of Columbus, Steven Johns, Justin Johns, Jessica Johns of Florida, Chris (Toni) Lauderbaugh of Bloomington, Emily Johns of Bloomington, Ian Johns of Columbus, Jessica (Jacob) Bender of Indianapolis, Miranda (George) Cummings of Illinois, Lauren Paglione of Texas, Colt (Emily) Evans of Mississippi, Stefanie Johns of Nebraska, IN, Alexis Johns of Shelbyville and Tommy Ray Nickel of Kokomo; several great-grandchildren; a brother, David Stevenson of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews.

Anita was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Valerie Evans; son, Mark French; sister, Cynthia Mae Stevenson; and grandchildren, Adalyn A. Mee, Ethan Johns, and Ted “Teddy” Johns.

The funeral for Anita will be Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at Norman Funeral Home with Pastor Ray Jones officiating.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Hawcreek Cemetery.
