Roger Eugene Smith, 76, a resident of Elizabethtown, Indiana, passed from this life at 1:18 a.m. Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at the Columbus Regional Hospital.
Roger was born in New Castle, Indiana, August 29, 1945, the son of Jack T. and Doris J. Pugsley Smith.
Roger was a United States Navy veteran. Roger worked in maintenance most of his working career, he retired from Developmental Services Inc after 20 years of service.
He enjoyed membership at the American Post No. 24 in Columbus, and he will be remembered for his love of music and being a drummer.
Roger is survived by his sons, Robert (Lori) Smith of Jonesville, Indiana, Benjamin (Brandy) Smith of Cookeville, Tennessee, Zachary Smith of Columbus; and Riley Smith of Franklin, Indiana; three grandchildren; a great-grandson; sister, Sherry Whitaker of North Vernon, Indiana; brother, Dale (Debbie) Smith of Greenwood, Indiana; and a niece, Lisa (Jeff) Dillow of Whiteland, Indiana.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Doris Smith and a son, Larry Joe Smith.
In keeping with Roger’s wishes, cremation is planned. A celebration of life will be held at a later date at the convenience of his family.
