North girls to run in Midwest Regional
Nike Cross Nationals has been canceled for the second year in a row, but unlike last year, there will be Nike Cross Regional meets, including the Midwest Regional Sunday afternoon in Terre Haute.
Columbus North’s girls, who won the state championship on that LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course Oct. 30, will be among the teams competing. The Midwest Regional will feature teams from Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Michigan and Missouri.
“Our goal is to be a top-three team from the five states that come in,” North girls coach Rick Sluder said. “We want to go in and have been in position to have qualified for nationals (if they hadn’t been canceled) and establish ourselves as a Midwest powerhouse.”
Both the Bull Dog boys and girls cross-country teams are entered to compete in the Running Lane National Championships Dec. 4 in Huntsville, Alabama.
