Rebecca Jo “Becky” Shelton, 70, passed away at 1:45 p.m. Friday, November 12, 2021 at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Becky was born November 1, 1951, in Columbus, Indiana, the daughter of Jesse and Evelyn L. Jewel Hilderbrand. On February 8, 1969, she married her soulmate and best friend, Joseph R. Shelton.
Mrs. Shelton worked for the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation for 20 years. She loved to spend quality time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Becky had a passion for reading and she really enjoyed dancing. Occasionally, Becky would visit a casino here or there, trying her luck at the games that awaited her inside. She liked visiting new and different casinos. Mrs. Shelton will truly be missed by those that knew and loved her.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Joseph; son, Nelson and Dana Shelton, Deanna (Bobby) Rayburn; grandchildren, Mikayla (Nicholas) Tobias, Joey (Lindsey) Shelton, Paige (Dale) Alexander, Cody Shelton, Ryan Rayburn, Shelby Rayburn, all of Columbus; great-grandchildren, Joseph, Clayton, Ellie Shelton, Kaitlynn Alexander, Braylln Tobias, Beau Tobias; one brother; three sisters; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; nine brothers and sisters.
The funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Jerry Day, Jr. officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:oo a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
