BOYS BASKETBALL

Crusaders drop opener

ANDERSON — Columbus Christian opened its season with a 69-57 loss to Heartland Christian in the Indiana Christian Academy Whirlwind Invitational.

The game was tied 24-24 at halftime before Heartland pulled away in the second half.

Gabe Ridder led the Crusaders with 19 points. Payton Rehlander scord 17, and Noah Edwards added 10.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Jets take first loss

WALDRON — Hauser endured its first loss of the season, a 53-36 Mid-Hoosier Conference setback at Class A No. 5 Waldron.

Kenze Bostic led the Jets (3-1, 0-1) with eight points. Kyliegh Parrott added seven.

Pirates top Cougars

GREENSBURG — Greensburg jumped out to a 29-9 halftime lead and went on to post a 51-30 win at South Decatur.

Kiley Best led the Cougars (1-5) with seven points. Loryn Pate added six.

Eagles fall to Knights

BRAZIL — Brown County trailed only 9-7 after one quarter, but Northview pulled away for a 57-25 Western Indiana Conference win.

Katie Tipton led the Eagles (1-5, 1-1) with 10 points. Abigail Watson added five.
