Deputies arrest driver accused of doing double the speed limit on 25th Street

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Bartholomew County Sheriff deputies arrested a local driver Sunday after they observed her vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on 25th Street near Talley Road.

Radar confirmed that the vehicle’s speed was twice that of the posted speed limit. As deputies attempted a traffic stop, the vehicle pulled into a driveway at a residence in the
6000 block of East 25th Street. The driver then drove through the grass and into another driveway, deputies said.

The driver, later identified as Stephanie Denney, 34, Columbus, exited the vehicle and ran into
the residence.
A short time later, she was taken to the Bartholomew County Jail on preliminary charges
of:
–Operating a vehicle while intoxicated
–Operating a vehicle while intoxicated – endangerment
–Resisting law enforcement
–Reckless driving
