BLOOMINGTON — Bender Lumber Co., which has a location in Columbus, will be offering a series of matching gifts that could double every dollar dropped into Salvation Army Red Kettles in eight southern Indiana counties today and Saturday.

On those days, Bender Lumber will match dollar for dollar cash donations in each community where it has a location, including Bloomington, Martinsville, Bedford, Paoli, Madison, Columbus, Linton and Washington.

The 53 Red Kettles in those cities will display special signs stating their donations could be doubled thanks to Bender Lumber.

Ben Watters, Bender Lumber president, said the Salvation Army aligns with the company’s corporate core values, “which makes them a wonderful partner during this special time of year. These core values include respect to God, family and country as well as commitment, integrity and service to our community.

Kettles are usually located at Walmart, Sam’s Club, Hobby Lobby, Rural King and Kroger stores, among others. Those who shop at Walmart today are being offered the opportunity to round up their purchase to the nearest dollar and donate the extra amount to The Salvation Army.

Bender Lumber is estimating that the match of donations could result in almost an additional $20,000 for The Salvation Army to help individuals in 2022.
