Icemen follow big weekend with shutout of HSE B

The Columbus Icemen went 3-1 last week, beating Carmel Blue 3-1 and Brebeuf 1-0 and falling to Westfield 6-4 over the weekend before blanking HSE B 2-0 on Tuesday.

Alex Clark led the Icemen with a combined four goals and two assists in the four games. Nathan Balasia scored two goals; Cole Vreeland, John Merritt, Tristan Tyner and Carter Greene all added one goal; Caleb McGehey had three assists; Kaitlyn Buickel and Logan Wallace each added two assists and Jayden Pagan contributed one assist. Jacob McMullen was in net two games, and Ben Blanz was in net one game.

Bantam A split with Evansville, falling 2-1 and winning 9-3. Lance Kitterman netted two goals and two assists, Cole Finney recorded two goals and one assist, Eduardo Aranda added one goal and one assist, River Degner scored two goals, Wyatt Warner had one goal and one assist, Kaitlyn Netser and Hayden Johnson each scored one goal and Will Jamerson and Drew Weed each added one assist. Jackson Wheatley was in net.

Bantam B lost to Indy Fuel Red 15-0 and 8-0. Sydney Morrow and Lane Barringer each were in net one game.

Peewee A split with Junior Fuel Black, falling 3-2 and winning 4-2. Ryan McGhehey netted two goals and one assist; Zane Lynch, Rowan Correll, Ethan Neumann and Tsukasa Udo all scored one goal; Carter Davis had three assists and Carter Kareus and Simon Barnes each had one assist. Canyon Long was in net.

Peewee B played Cincinnati Swords and tied 1-1 and won 2-0. Lilli Donica and Ayden Richardson each had one goal and one assist, Dana Thomas scored one goal and Preston Bell and Canyon Long each had one assist. Gabe Marsh was in net.

BROOMBALL

MOR, Hansons win again

Monsters of Rock and Hansons each remained unbeaten with wins last week in the Columbus Broomball League.

Monsters (2-0-1) blanked Our Name Is Earl (1-2) 6-0. Rob Jones and Tyler Rash each scored two goals, and Kyle Roshak each added one.

Hansons beat CCA 6-2. Matt Street and Ryan Jepson each scored twice for Hansons (2-0-1), while Dave VanValkenburg and Rahul Bhardwaj each scored onece. Scott Herron netted both goals for CCA (0-2-1).

Jennings County BC topped Toyota Tsunamis 7-3. Skyler Matthews, Darien Castetter and Kyle Hunterman all scored two goals, and Eric Wernke had one for Jennings (1-1-1). Jimmy Robertson and Greg McNealy netted the goals for Tsunamis (1-2).

BASKETBALL

Chargers, Panthers split

Central won the seventh-grade game 51-50, and Jennings County took the eighth-grade game 47-42 on Monday.

Parker Elmore led the Panther eighth-graders (5-0) with 26 points, while Cash Millspaugh added 14. Mikey Hall scored 22, and Aaron Lewis had 15 for the Jennings seventh-graders (0-5).
