SHELBYVILLE
Brenda M. “Michelle” Alexander, 54, of Shelby County, passed away on Monday December 6, 2021 at her home. Michelle was born in Columbus, Indiana on September 19, 1967 to Maurice J. Powers Sr. and Brenda J. Green Powers. She married Brendan R. Alexander on May 26, 2012.
Brenda was a graduate of Shelbyville High School in 1985. She was proud United States Air Force Veteran and was employed as a Compliance Manager at Cummins Engine Company. Brenda enjoyed teaching Sunday school at Fredonia Church, playing bingo, camping, going to the casino and hosting family gatherings.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday December 10, 2021 at the Jewell – Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Dennis Hirschauer and Jeffrey Powers officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday December 9, 2021 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service Friday. Burial will be at Rodney Friendship Separate Baptist Church in Christ Cemetery with military honors.
Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help with expenses.
Survivors include her parents, Maurice and Brenda Powers; her husband, Brendan Alexander; children, Josh Harford, Stefan Hartford, and Zac Hartford all of Columbus, Indiana, Lily Alexander and Daniel Alexander both of Shelbyville, Indiana; a step-daughter, Chelsey Alexander of Rushville, Indiana; a brother, Jeffrey (Buffy) Powers of Shelbyville, Indiana; sisters, Lisa (Joe) Shaw of Connersville, Indiana, Gina (Chris) Bolt of Franklin, Indiana and Mariah (Tom) Flynn of Columbus, Indiana; grandchildren, Jaxson Hartford, Kato Hartford, Landon Hartford, Ayden Harford and Gavin Hartford; father and mother-in-law, Dwain and Karen Alexander of Shelbyville, Indiana and several nieces and nephews.
Brenda was preceded in death by her grandmother, Luella Marie Snow and a brother, Maurice Jack Powers Jr.
