David M. Cline, 68, a lifelong resident of Columbus, Indiana, passed from this life at 6:20 p.m. Friday, December 3, 2021, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

David was born in Columbus, Indiana, August 13, 1953, the son of Ralph R. and Elizabeth A. “Libby” Nolting Cline. On September 6, 1980, Dave married Judith E. Brauer; she survives.

Dave graduated from Purdue University in 1975. He was a real estate and farm appraiser for many years, and he was the owner of Pieper Farm Service from 1987 to 1991. From 2001-2011, Dave worked at Sherwin-Williams in Columbus.

Dave was a beloved husband and a loving father, grandfather, and brother.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife of 41 years, Judy; sons, Scott (Alisha) Cline of Jacksonville, Florida and Jonathan (Allison) Cline of Columbus; grandchildren, Adilynn, Ellie, and Henry Cline; siblings, Julia Castell of Westlake, Ohio, Jane (Gerald) Wiley of Columbus, and Doug (Lisa) Cline of Columbus; brother-in-law, Greg Manley of Columbus; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Dave was preceded in death by an infant son, Mark David Cline; his parents, Ralph and Libby Cline; and a sister, Jill Manley.

Dave loved his family and cherished having his children and grandchildren around. He was a dedicated Purdue sports fan. A sports enthusiast, Dave enjoyed playing softball, basketball, bowling, and ping-pong. In 2006, he joined the inaugural class of Rock Steady Boxing. Rock Steady Boxing is an Indianapolis-based, nonprofit gym that provides a unique form of physical exercise to people living with Parkinson’s Disease. They now have locations around the world to help people living with this debilitating disease. They are celebrating their 15th anniversary this year and Dave was proud to have been a part of the Rock Steady Boxing family since their start. Rock Steady Boxing was an important part of Dave’s life and is a big part of the reason he lived so well with Parkinson’s.

The celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 11, 2021, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church; the Reverend Mark Teike and Pastor Douglas Bauman will officiate. Family and friends may gather for visitation from 11 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.

Private inurnment will take place at the Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to South Central Indiana Rock Steady Boxing or Just Friends Adult Day Services.
