COLUMBUS, Ind. — Bartholomew County remains in the slight risk category with the southwest portion of the county now in the enhanced risk for severe weather tonight, Bartholomew County Emergency Management said.

Severe storms most likely in the midnight tonight to 8 a.m. Saturday time frame, with two waves possible — the first ahead of the front from midnight to 4 a.m. and the second as a line along the front from 4 a.m. to 8 a.m. Saturday.

Primary threats are damaging wind gusts and tornadoes centered in the enhanced risk area. Other threats include heavy rainfall, large hail, and localized flooding. Winds and tornadoes are the most likely hazards from these storms.

Rainfall amounts up to 1.5 inches are expected, with locally higher amounts possible.

Fast storm motions, overnight timing, and atypical time of year could make this potential event exceptionally dangerous.
