JNET arrests six in meth lab investigation

Six people were arrested after law enforcement officers located weapons and a methamphetamine lab inside a Columbus home Tuesday night.

Shortly after 10:30 p.m., officers from the Columbus Police Department SWAT Team, which is comprised of officers from CPD as well as the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office, served a search warrant at 150 S. Brooks St. The search warrant was part of an ongoing JNET investigation regarding weapons and illegal narcotics.

During a search of the home, officers located several firearms, one of which had the serial number removed. The officers also located drug paraphernalia, 73 grams of methamphetamine, along with a methamphetamine lab inside the home, investigators said.

The following persons were taken into custody and remanded on the preliminary charges listed below:

Joshua V. Dewey, 40, of 150 S. Brooks St., Columbus, initially transported to Columbus Regional Hospital where he was in police custody. Upon his discharge, he will be remanded to the Bartholomew County Jail on the following preliminary charges: Dealing in methamphetamine, manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number, maintaining a common nuisance. Bond set at $60,000.

Matthew J. Havidic, 58, of 150 S. Brooks St., Columbus: Maintaining a common nuisance, possession of drug araphernalia, held in jail in lieu of $10,000 bond.

Randall W. Garris, 50, of 405 Della Road, Columbus: Visiting a common nuisance, warrant, held in jail in lieu of $33,500 bond.

Angel D. Sanders, 45, of 1241 Evergreen Way, North Vernon: Visiting a common nuisance, held in jail in lieu of $3,500 bond.

Darlene A. Jenkins, 56, 2524 Indiana Ave., Columbus: Visiting a common nuisance, held in jail in lieu of $3,500 bond.

Jason L. Fields, 43, of 1069 Phoenix Court, Columbus: Visiting a common nuisance, bond set at $3,500, released on probation department program allowing certain qualifying defendants to be released without posting bond.

The Joint Narcotics Enforcement Team is a combined unit of the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office, the Columbus Police Department and the Bartholomew County Prosecutor’s Office targeting the manufacturing and abuse of dangerous drugs in Columbus and Bartholomew County.
