East food distribution planned for today

Cars line up at Columbus East High School for food distribution from the Columbus East Food Pantry in Columbus, Ind., Friday, Nov. 20, 2020. Mike Wolanin | The Republic

The Columbus East Food Pantry will have a community food distribution from 4:30 to 6:30 today for drive-up distribution of pre-bagged collections of food, with enough for approximately 220 families.

Due to growing demand, we are limiting the number of collections of food per car to two (the pantry ran out of food in November).

Columbus Animal Services will also be distributing limited amounts of pet food, and Columbus North senior Will Littrell will be distributing socks – two pairs per family – for his senior project.

The Columbus East Food Pantry is available to the entire community and is not limited to BCSC families. Pickup point is at door 31 in the west parking lot behind the school near the tennis courts. The Columbus East Food Pantry is a Gleaners school-based food pantry.
