BOYS BASKETBALL

Warriors edge North

Columbus North cut the lead to one on a 3-pointer by Cooper Horn with three seconds remaining, but were out of timeouts, and Scottsburg held on to hand the Bull Dogs a 46-45 defeat.

North (5-3) led 10-8 after one quarter and were tied 19-19 at halftime, but the Warriors grabbed a 30-26 lead heading to the fourth.

Horn led the Bull Dogs with 16 points. Sam King added 10.

Jets fall to Pacers

VEVAY — Hauser fell behind 35-21 at halftime and couldn’t recover in a 61-53 loss at Switzerland County.

Koby Johnson led the Jets (3-4) with 14 points. Eli Miller scored 12 points, and Bryce Bates added 11 points and nine rebounds.

Crusaders win twice

Columbus Christian bounced back from a homecoming loss to Horizon Christian on Friday night by winning a pair of games in Daviess County on Saturday.

The Crusaders (7-4, 3-1) picked up a 69-64 Southern Road Conference win at Pleasant View Christian in the afternoon. Peyton Rehlander scored 27 points, while Gabe Ridder had 22 and Noah Edwards added eight.

On Saturday night, Columbus Christian beat Washington Catholic 66-44. Ridder scored 25 points, and Rehlander added 16.

Late Friday night, the Crusaders fell to Horizon Christian 63-60. Ridder scored 22 points, while Edwards had 17 and Rehlander added 10.

Lancers stay perfect

EDINBURGH — Class A No. 5 Edinburgh improved to 7-0 for the first time in school history with an 88-64 win against Monrovia.

Caleb Dewey led the Lancers with 24 points. Landen Burton scored 20, Jarrett Turner had 16, Travis Jones added 11 and Riley Palmeter chipped in nine.

Cougars handle Raiders

VERSAILLES — South Ripley rallied from a 11-point halftime deficit to tie South Decatur once in the third quarter and once in the fourth quarter, but the Cougars pulled out a 69-62 win.

Hunter Johnson led the Cougars (4-3) with 35 points. Jacob Scruggs scored 15, and Evan Wullenweber added eight.

Owls upset Panthers

SEYMOUR — Jennings County saw its five-game winning streak come to an end with a 72-52 Hoosier Hills Conference loss at Seymour.

Keegan Manowitz led the Panthers (5-2, 0-1) with 24 points. Carson McNulty added 16 points and six rebounds.

Vikings top Eagles

WEST TERRE HAUTE — West Vigo jumped out to a 24-4 lead after one quarter and went on to hand Brown County a 63-31 Western Indiana Conference defeat.

Kaydon Bellmore led the Eagles (2-5, 0-4) with 11 points. Carter Kelly added eight.

SWIMMING

East sweeps New Albany

Columbus East picked up a pair of close wins, edging New Albany 91-89 in the boys meet and 97-88 in the girls meet.

Misha Machavariani led the boys with wins in the 200-yard individual medley (2 minutes, 7.63 seconds) and 100 breaststroke (1:07.31). Judah Nickoll took the 200 freestyle (1:54.79), Cavan Stilson captured the 50 freestyle (24.51) and Dathan Wolf won the 100 backstroke (58.08).

For the girls, Ellie Proffitt won the 200 freestyle (2:04.08) and 500 freestyle (5:37.38), and Karissa Miller took the 200 IM (2:28.35) and 100 backstroke (1:05.52). Kerigan Greathouse won the 50 freestyle (27.83), Gabbie Meier took the diving competition (230.69) and the Olympians captured the 200 medley (2:02.68) and 200 freestyle (5:37.38) relays.

Columbus Christian splits

Columbus Christian beat Horizon Christian 45-10 on Friday before falling at Washington Catholic 46-41 on Saturday.

Sarah Lorimor led the Crusaders with 21 points against Horizon. Madi Blair added 10.

lost 46-41. Sarah Lorimor and Paige Harden each scored 15 points to lead the Crusders (6-3) at Washington Catholic.

Eagles down Vikings

WEST TERRE HAUTE — Brown County snapped a five-game losing streak with a 37-32 WIC victory at West Vigo.

Lexie Austin led the Eagles (3-11, 3-4) with 10 points. Abigail Watson and Anna Stogsdill each added nine.

Cougars top Scecina

INDIANAPOLIS — South Decatur jumped out to a 12-2 lead after one quarter and went on to post a 46-38 win at Indianapolis Scecina.

Makayla Somers led the Cougars (3-9) with 13 points. Loryn Pate scored 11, and Kiley Best added 10.

WRESTLING

Panthers take sixth

JEFFERSONVILLE — Jennings County finished sixth with 151.5 points in the Jeffersonville Classic. Oldham County (Kentucky) won with 230 points.

Lane Kirchner (120) and Evan Sochacki (138) each finished second for the Panthers. R.J. Barberis (145) placed fourth, and Teagan Trotter (182), Gage Gasper (220) and Peyton Hayden (285) all took fifth.
