Amy Lynn Skinner Sackman

COLUMBUS

Amy Lynn Skinner Sackman, 51 of Columbus went to be with the Lord after a lengthy illness on Monday, December 27, 2021, at 6:47 p.m. at IU Health University Hospital in Indianapolis.

Amy was born on August 23, 1970, in Columbus the daughter of Larry A. and Peggy S. Porter Skinner.

She was a 1988 graduate of Jennings County High School, where she was an outstanding athlete excelling in basketball, volleyball, and track. She also was an outstanding softball player and was a member of the PECO State Championship Softball Team. In high school she was offered a full ride scholarship to college for her volleyball talent. She went on to attend Indiana University and was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church. She had previously worked at Arnie’s for 17 years and most recently she was an aide in the Home Healthcare Industry.

She had a tender heart for animals and tremendous love for her family, her two boys were her world and she loved them more than anything. She would tell her mother that she was her Angel and always would be.

Some of her greatest joys were music- especially the Dave Matthews Band, IU basketball, the Colts, and participating in the Gift of Life, and above all her family.

Survivors include her sons, Hunter S.N. Ross of Seymour and Tyson Sackman of Columbus; parents, Larry A. and Peggy S. Porter Skinner of Columbus; brother, Travis C. Skinner of Scipio; niece, Kirsten (Joe) Ross of Columbus; great nephew, Austin Ross; aunts, Sharon Wheeler, Charlotte Muia, Debbie Pinnick, Nyla Fox; and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Sedrick and Iris Skinner, Travis and Evelyn Porter and an uncle, Jerry Skinner.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 3, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Father Clem Davis and Deacon Bill Jones officiating.

Family and friends may call for visitation from 11:00 a.m. till time of service on Monday at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to Riley Children’s Hospital.
