Scott A. Taskey

Scott A. Taskey, 64, went to be with the Lord at 1:56 p.m. Saturday, January 1, 2022, at the Columbus Regional Hospital surrounded by his family.

Scott was born in Seymour, Indiana to the late Harold F. and Dixie (Lile) Taskey on September 12, 1957. He married Cynthia Miller April 3, 1982, in Columbus by the Reverend Dave Little.

Scott was a 1975 graduate of Columbus East High School. He was a founding member of Bible Church of Columbus where he was a permanent usher.

Scott served our country as a member of the U.S. Army Reserves and the Indiana Army National Guard from 1975-1982. Scott was employed with Arvin Industries from 1975-1976 and Conrail Railroad from 1976-1988. He owned a Caribbean Clear Swimming Pool franchise from 1988-1994. In 1994, Scott joined Breeden Realtors and Developers, now Century 21 Breeden Realtors. Scott was senior vice-president of the company at the time of his passing. He was recognized as the number one Century 21 realtor in Indiana in 2007 and number one in Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky in 2012, 2013 and 2014. His biggest year as a realtor was in 2021, finishing number two in Indiana for Century 21.

Scott was president of the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation C4 Building Trades Board of Directors from 1995-2021. Scott enjoyed racing stock cars 1976-1979 where he won many races throughout southern Indiana. He was an avid golfer and a private pilot.

Scott was a wonderful son, brother, husband, dad, papaw, and friend that will be missed by many.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife of almost 40 years, Cindy; his two sons, Greg Taskey of Columbus and Derrick (Lindsay) Taskey of Columbus; sister, Sandy (Bill) Allen of Columbus; grandson, Nathanael Mace of Columbus; granddaughters, Skylee and Myka Taskey of Columbus; mother-in-law, Louise (Miller) Reichert; brothers and sisters in-law, Chris Hunt, Rick and Julie Miller, Tina and Steve Walker, Susan Miller and Shawn and Vicky Miller; nieces, Rachel Allen, Lindsey (Josh) Reagan, Lyndsay (Jackson) Shepherd; nephews, Clint Spencer, Michael (Winter Applewhite) Miller, Zach (Keri) Miller and Weston Miller; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Dixie Taskey; brother, David Taskey; father-in-law, Richard Miller; and half-sister, Pat Nichter.

It is with great regret, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the family will have a private funeral service at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home; the Reverend David Marvin will officiate. Full military honors will be presented by the Indiana Army National Guard Honor Guard and the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard. In keeping with Scott’s wishes, cremation will take place following the funeral service and private inurnment will be at the Garland Brook Cemetery.

A celebration of Scott’s life will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Bible Church of Columbus, 3010 10th Street, Columbus, Indiana 47201, cards are also available at the funeral home.
