Filings for Bartholomew County offices continued Thursday after Wednesday’s “first day” for candidates seeking public office.
Incumbent Republican Rep. Ryan Lauer, R-Columbus, filed Wednesday at the Indiana Statehouse to represent the state House of Representatives 59th district, which encompasses Columbus and Bartholomew County.
Lauer serves on multiple committees in the Indiana General Assembly including Local Government, Family, Children and Human Affairs, and is currently vice-chair of Veterans Affairs and Public Safety. Lauer also serves on the Indiana Public Defender Commission. Lauer had previously served on the Bartholomew County Council and as President of the County Council. He and his family attend Grace Lutheran Church in Columbus where he served three terms as chairman of the Church Council.
Incumbent Republican Rep. Jim Lucas, R-Seymour, also filed Wednesday to represent the state House of Representatives 69th district, which includes a slice of southern Bartholomew County, as well as large stretch of Jackson County and portions of Washington and Scott counties.
Scott Bonnell, Republican incumbent for Bartholomew County Council District 1, filed as a candidate on Thursday.
