Five-vehicle crash blocks northbound I-65 south of Columbus, deputies warn of slick roads

COLUMBUS, Ind. — The Bartholomew County Sheriff Department is urging motorists to slow down due to slick road conditions this morning due to light snow and icing on roadways.

The department is investigating multiple vehicle accidents on I-65 south of Columbus at Walesboro, deputies said.

The northbound lanes of I-65 at mile marker 59 south of Columbus are closed at this time, deputies said. A five-vehicle accident, involving two semis and three cars, will block the interstate for some time and motorists are asked to avoid the area, deputies said.

County highway and state highway crews are out, but deputies said roadways remain slick and hazardous, deputies said.
